While we were on our way Dana remembered that Bill's mandolin was in his trunk, and I saw the look in his eyes as we pulled off on a dirt road, and got the mandolin out to look at and even play. He asked us to go up to the store to get him a couple of gallons of drinking water (he wanted something better than the awful tasting well water at the festival). ![]() (who was Monroe's last banjo player), whose family was very close with Bill. Michigan, and Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys were the headliner band. Back in the late 70s, I attended a BG festival in Whitmore Lake. LOL! I think you may be correct! I have stories about Monroe based upon personal experience with him that were hilarious.Īnother one I think I can tell now that Bill Monroe has passed way.
